DODA: A plantation drive was today conducted here at the Forest Complex to mark the International Day of Forests 2025. The event was held under the supervision of Conservator of Forests, Chenab Circle Sandeep Kumar. The event focused on this year’s theme, "Forests and Food," highlighting the vital role forests play in sustaining life and providing resources.
The event saw the active participation of DFO Mahesh Thakur, Range Officer Siraj, Range Officer Soil, Ashok Kumar, and other officials from the Forest Department. The Conservator of Forests emphasized the need to preserve the rich forest cover of Chenab Valley and raise awareness about sustainable forest management. He also underscored the importance of increasing green cover by encouraging tree plantation. Stressing the role of forests in food security and ecological balance, he called for community involvement in conservation efforts.
Participants planted various tree species suited to the region's climate and soil. The initiative aimed to inspire collective responsibility for environmental preservation and promote the significance of forests in supporting livelihoods and biodiversity. The Forest Department also announced plans to conduct similar awareness drives in schools and rural communities, ensuring that the message of forest conservation reaches the grassroots level.
