DODA: District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) in collaboration with Child Helpline on Thursday organised an awareness camp here at Anganwadi Centre Bun Doda to spread awareness about the national campaign “Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat” and the women-centric government welfare schemes. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from community members, women and adolescents.
During the camp, participants were sensitised to the harmful effects of child marriage, its adverse impact on the physical, mental and social well-being of children, especially girls and its serious legal implications. Emphasis was laid on the importance of ensuring a safe, healthy and empowered future for children through education, awareness and community support.
The officials also disseminated information on laws related to child protection and highlighted the crucial role of Child Helpline services in reporting, preventing and responding to cases of child marriage. In addition, detailed information was shared on the women-centric welfare schemes aimed at the social, economic and legal empowerment of women.
At the end, an interactive session was organised wherein participants actively engaged in discussions shared their views and sought clarifications on issues related to child marriage, child protection and women welfare schemes making the awareness drive more impactful and participatory.
