In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

RAMBAN: The Labour Department Ramban on Sunday organized an awareness programme here at Town Hall Banihal to spread awareness among workers, employers and the general public about various social security schemes of the Government of India.

During the programme, participants were apprised of flagship welfare schemes including Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM). The objectives, eligibility criteria and benefits of these schemes were explained in detail, highlighting the financial and social security available to workers, particularly in the unorganised sector.

The programme also focused on generating awareness of the new Labour Codes, highlighting their salient features, simplified compliance mechanisms and enhanced protection and welfare measures envisaged for workers.

The Participants were encouraged to familiarize themselves with the provisions of the new labour laws for better compliance and benefits. A grievance redressal session was also held. The officials listened to the issues and grievances raised by workers and employers. Majority of them were addressed on the spot, ensuring timely guidance and redressal.

On spot services were also facilitated. The Labour Department team renewed 22 Labour Cards and issued 3 new cards on the spot. Additionally, 25 beneficiaries were registered under PMSBY, 6 beneficiaries under PMJJBY and 2 beneficiaries under PMSYM.

The Assistant Labour Commissioner Amit Kumar emphasized the department’s continued efforts to ensure maximum coverage under labour welfare schemes and encouraged eligible workers to avail the benefits of the same.
