KUPWARA: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, today chaired a meeting to review the implementation of the PM TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (PMTBMBA) in the district.
The meeting was attended by the District Programme Officer ICDS, SDMs, Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer Kupwara, District Tuberculosis Officer, and all Block Medical Officers, Labour officer, District Youth Officer. District Tuberculosis Officer, Dr. Gh. Hassan, gave a detailed block-wise presentation covering all parameters related to the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
While acknowledging the overall efforts of the District Tuberculosis Officer and the Health Department, the DC directed underperforming Block Medical Officers to improve their performance and ensure targets are achieved within the stipulated timelines.
He instructed all Block Medical Officers to make optimal use of Handheld X-Ray machines through Nikshay Camps in high-risk villages, and to work in close coordination to enhance screening coverage across their jurisdictions.
DC directed intensified active case finding, using all available diagnostic tools, and asked BMOs to sensitize medical staff and mobilize healthcare workers at the block level for sustained community engagement. He further instructed the deployment of mobile medical units in border and hard-to-reach areas to ensure no vulnerable population is left out of the screening drive.
Directions were also given for prompt identification and treatment of TB patients, along with strengthened Differentiated TB Care and nutritional support for patients undergoing treatment.
The DC directed all blocks to submit weekly progress reports to enable close monitoring of outreach, screening and testing efforts, and stressed on stronger inter-departmental coordination to sustain momentum under the campaign.
He commended the contribution of frontline healthcare workers, ASHA workers and community volunteers, stating that their sustained efforts remain central to achieving the goal of a TB-free Kupwara, in line with the broader whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach being pursued under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan across Jammu and Kashmir.
