JAMMU: In a vibrant celebration of National Sports Day, the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) J&K hosted an exclusive football mentoring session under the supervision of Director General Anuradha Gupta. Held at Khel Gaon, Nagrota here, the special event brought together over 100 budding footballers for an immersive learning experience with former Indian football star and ex-AIFF technical member Arun Malhotra.

Commemorating the birth anniversary of the legendary Major Dhyan Chand, the initiative was designed to bridge grassroots potential with high-level professional expertise. Deputy Director Planning Megha Boagia formally welcomed the guest of honour and participating athletes, emphasizing the department's continued focus on providing young sportspersons with elite guidance and world-class infrastructure.

During the interactive session, Malhotra drew from his extensive national and international career to school the young prospects in core fundamentals, including tactical awareness, agility, match discipline, and teamwork. His firsthand insights offered participants a rare glimpse into the rigorous demands of competitive sports, inspiring them to channel dedication and regular practice into athletic achievement.

The YSS Academies of Excellence are continually spearheading grassroots talent identification across J&K, steadily building a robust sporting ecosystem that empowers the region's youth to compete and excel on bigger stages.
