BARAMULLA: As part of its commitment to community policing and public welfare, Baramulla Police organised a series of Police–Public Interaction Programmes (Thana Diwas) across the district to strengthen ties with the people and address their concerns.
The programmes were held at 30 locations, including Whole Market Baramulla, Towheed Gunj, Noorbagh, Zoogiyar, Shaipora, Faqirwani, Kralpora, Rasrapora, Serwo, Kripal Garh, Takiya Tapper, Khore Sherabad, Magraypora, Burzawachan, Shirpora, Muran Tangwari, Nowpora Jagir, Chanpora, Kilwara, Panditpora, Gulabdaji, Kandwa, Pandoori, Hillen Pehlipora, Bodrali, Nowpora, Pringal, Bijhama AB, Dardkote and Sarai, with active participation from local residents.
During the programmes, police officers interacted directly with the public and listened to their issues and suggestions. Residents raised matters related to water supply, electricity, drainage, road connectivity, verification procedures, cybercrime and drug abuse. The officers also created awareness about cyber safety, public security and the use of Dial-112 for reporting emergencies. People were assured that genuine grievances would be taken up with the concerned departments for necessary action.
Special attention was given to spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse, particularly among the youth. The participants were urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with the police in efforts to make society drug-free and safer.
The participants appreciated the initiative and welcomed the continued efforts of Police in strengthening police–public relations and promoting a secure and peaceful environment.
