In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) today organised a comprehensive literary programme to mark Vishwa Hindi Diwas, reaffirming the Academy’s commitment to the promotion, propagation and enrichment of the Hindi language.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary, JKAACL, Harvinder Kour highlighted the growing importance of Hindi at both national and international levels. She stated that Hindi is not merely a means of communication but a powerful cultural bond that connects people from every nook and corner of the country. Emphasizing its global outreach, she stated that Hindi has emerged as one of the most widely spoken languages in the world and serves as a strong medium for expressing India’s rich cultural heritage, values and literary traditions on international platforms.

Ms. Kour further remarked that Vishwa Hindi Diwas offers an opportunity to reflect on the role of Hindi in fostering national unity, cultural harmony and mutual understanding among diverse linguistic communities. She stressed the need for collective efforts to promote Hindi among younger generations while ensuring its healthy coexistence with regional and mother tongues, thereby strengthening India’s multilingual fabric.

The programme featured an engaging poetic session in which eminent Hindi poets recited their compositions on a wide range of themes, including social values, human emotions, national consciousness and contemporary realities. The session captivated the audience and underscored the vibrancy and relevance of Hindi literature in addressing both timeless and modern concerns.
