In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

KISHTWAR: As part of National Road Safety Month 2026 campaign, the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) conducted a road safety awareness programme here at Paradise Skill Development Centre.

More than 70 students from 10, 11 and 12 classes participated in the programme. Assistant Road Transport Officer Tasleem Wani delivered a PowerPoint presentation, highlighting the importance of safe road behaviour, hazards of underage driving, encouraging the use of protective gear and sensitising students about their role as responsible citizens and Good Samaritans.

Data on road accidents in Kishtwar district, as per the iRAD report, for the previous three years—2023, 2024 and 2025—was also shared with the participants to highlight accident trends and the importance of road safety.

To encourage active participation and reinforce learning, a Road Safety Quiz was also organised during the programme. Students enthusiastically took part in the quiz, demonstrating keen interest and awareness regarding road safety rules. The first five winners of the Road Safety Quiz were felicitated and awarded prizes in recognition of their outstanding knowledge.

The initiative was well received by the staff and students of the institute and reaffirmed MVD Kishtwar’s commitment to fostering a culture of road safety among young citizens.
