KISHTWAR: SANKALP: Hub for Empowerment of Women on Monday organised an awareness program on Child Rights and Child Helpline here at Government Middle School Girls and Government Primary School Gowari Chatroo to promote child welfare and protection. The session aimed to educate students, teachers, and school staff about children’s fundamental rights and the support systems available for their safety.

The participants were made aware about the child rights, including the right to education, protection from abuse and exploitation, healthcare access, and the right to express opinions. SANKALP:HEW team emphasized on the importance of ensuring a safe and supportive environment for children to grow and thrive.

A major highlight of the session was information about the Child Helpline 1098, a 24/7 toll-free emergency helpline dedicated to assisting children in distress. The students were encouraged to use the helpline in situations of abuse, child labor, trafficking, or neglect.

Besides, school bags and stationery were also distributed among the girl students, reinforcing the department’s commitment to supporting education and empowerment. The initiative by SANKALP: HEW reflects its commitment in empowering children and safeguarding their rights through continuous awareness campaigns and creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for girls in rural areas.
