POONCH: A Free Eye Screening Camp was today organized at Raja Sukhdev Singh District Hospital Poonch, in collaboration with Government Medical College Rajouri. Dr. Shazia Qayum, Ophthalmologist Head of Department at Government Medical College Rajouri, along with a team of ophthalmologists, examined patients from far flung hilly regions of the district.

This initiative is part of the National Program for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment (NPCB & VI). During the camp, a total of 114 patients were screened, with 98 diagnosed with Senile Mature Cataract and 16 identified with other eye diseases. This initiative underscores the commitment of local health authorities to improve eye care services. The DC emphasised the importance of such camps in providing specialised care and preventing visual impairment to people of hilly regions in the district
