KATRA: As part of the ongoing student induction program for first-year students at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Dr. BeenaJad, Senior Consultant and Head of the Department of Lab Medicine, delivered an insightful lecture on the critical issue of drug abuse.
This expert talk, a crucial component of the induction program, was warmly welcomed by Prof. Balbir Singh, Dean of Academic Affairs at SMVDU, who emphasized its importance for the youth. Dr. Beena's presentation highlighted the severe consequences of drug abuse, including its impact on mental and physical health. Her talk aimed to equip students with knowledge and strategies to avoid substance abuse and understand its broader societal effects. The session followed an earlier presentation by Dr. Varun Dutta, Nodal Officer for the NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan at SMVDU. He showcased various videos demonstrating the harmful effects of drug abuse. The session ended with Q&A session.
Earlier, before this session, Mr. Sumant S. Sharma, Asst. Prof., SMVDU, delivered an engaging talk on "Harmony in Relationships," further enriching the students' orientation experience. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Pragati Kumar emphasis on holistic development of students through active participation in academic and extra-curricular activities. The student induction program is being jointly coordinated by a team of dedicated faculty members: Dr. Pooja Sharma, Dr. Anil Bhardwaj, Dr. MadhuMangalChaturvedi, Dr. Varun Dutta, Dr. Bharat Bhushan Jindal, Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Dr. Amit Sinha, and Dr. Kamaldeep. The program aims to provide new students with valuable insights and guidance as they embark on their academic journey.
