UDHAMPUR: The week-long Badminton tournament, organized by the Department of Social Welfare in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services and Sports, concluded successfully in Udhampur.
The program was attended virtually by Director Social Welfare Jammu, Bharat Bhushan and Director Youth Services and Sports, Subash Chander Chibber and in person by District Information Officer Rajinder Digra, DYSSO Romesh Chander Mishra, Chief Education Officer Narinder Mohan Suri, along with senior officers from the civil administration, Police, Air Force, ITBP, and officials from the Sports and Social Welfare departments.
The closing ceremony cum prize distribution function were held at the Conference Hall, DC Office Complex, Udhampur. Senior Superintendent of Police Joginder Singh was the chief guest, while Additional Deputy Commissioner Joginder Singh Jasrotia served as the guest of honor. District Social Welfare Officer Kanika Gupta presided over the event.
The tournament saw participation from over 400 individuals across the district. While addressing the participants, the chief guest complimented the organizers for the successful conduct of the tournament. He highlighted the psychological impact of drug abuse on individuals and their families and stressed the importance of raising awareness about drug prevention.
He encouraged participants to support the “Nash Mukt Abhiyan” initiative and expressed hope that such tournaments would inspire more youth to engage in sports. The chief guest also interacted with the participants, urging them to take an active role in sports for their overall development, and extended his best wishes for their future endeavors. The event concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates to the winners and participants.
