UDHAMPUR: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai on Wednesday presided over the weekly block Diwas program organized at village  Panchari. The event witnessed active participation of DDC member, Jasvir Singh, former PRI members and local residents, who presented a range of demands aimed at addressing critical developmental needs in the region. The programme was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Rajinder Singh, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dr Umesh Shan, Assistant Commissioner Development Dr Ranjit Singh Kotwal and other officers of various departments.

The locals projected several demands and issues including  establishment of PHE and PDD Sub-Division Offices in Panchari, construction of a new building for local PHC, provision of adequate parking facilities, Fire & Emergency Services,  replacement of old and damaged electricity poles, construction of a Panchayat Ghar in Panchayat Badhota, and establishment of a Sub-Centre and Ambulance facility in Panchayat Badhota, Upgradation of  Primary School Loudhra to a Middle School, Construction of Lathyar to Sanasar road, installation of a J&K Bank ATM and CCTV cameras in the market area and addressing manpower shortages in Agriculture and allied sector offices.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC acknowledged that many of the demands require substantial financial outlays and assured that efforts would be made to fulfil them in a phased manner. She directed officials of PMGSY and JJM to strengthen monitoring mechanisms to ensure the quality of development works. To address manpower shortages, she advised utilizing volunteers at the Panchayat level until regular staffing is arranged.

Highlighting the district administration commitment to developing Panchari as a tourist destination, the DC emphasized ongoing efforts to improve road connectivity and warned of strict action against contractors failing to maintain roads. She also sensitized participants about key government schemes, including the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, JK Samadhan Portal and PM Awas Yojana 2.0 Gramin Survey.

As part of the program, a Voter’s Pledge was administered to promote electoral awareness.  Earlier, the DC also inspected a Bee Keeping Unit and an Integrated Farming System model under HADP at Panchayat Pathi. The DC also visited farmers’ fields covered under the Per Drop More Crop scheme in Panchayat Malli and interacted with local farmers to understand their issues and provide guidance. Enroute, the DC distributed course completion certificates to farmers trained under the DAKSH Kisan Program as part of HADP at Mansar Udhampur.
