JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Urban Forestry Division organised a plantation program under the slogan "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" at Sainik Colony in RS Pura-Jammu South constituency. The program was graced by Former Deputy Mayor Jammu & senior BJP leader Baldev Singh Billawaria as the chief guest, while Urban Forestry Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Ashwani Kumar was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, former Deputy Mayor & senior BJP leader Baldev Singh Billawaria said that the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign started on the call of the country's beloved Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not remained just a campaign but has now become a mass movement in the whole country. This campaign expresses our reverence towards our mother and mother earth, he added.
Billawaria further said that every person in the whole country is paying obeisance to both mother and mother earth by planting a sapling in their name. He said that planting saplings is easy but growing them is very difficult. He also said that all the participants planting saplings are requested to take care of the saplings planted by them like their own son and this tree will take care of you like a mother in the future.
He appealed to all the people of Jammu to plant a tree in the name of mother this monsoon season. He congratulated the Urban Forest Division for organising this event in the direction of environmental protection. On the occasion, senior BJP leaders Ved Raj Sharma, Ranjit Singh, Shalu Gupta, Ajay Pratap Singh, Rajinder Singh (Poppy), Rajni Gupta, Satyam Singh, Omeshwar Kumar, Nitin Charak, Ashwani Bali, Ashok Sambyal and others were present.
