SAMBA: District Development Commissioner Rajesh Sharma today chaired a meeting to assess the working of Small Business Development Units (SBDUs) and Business Help Desks (BHDs) set up under Mission YUVA– a J&K government’s initiative focused on encouraging entrepreneurship by providing financial support, mentorship and resources to aspirants.

The DC asked for launching a sustained Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign with the involvement of Yuva Doots   and field functionaries to mobilize potential entrepreneurs and youth to set up small enterprises in rural areas.

The DDC conducted a detailed analysis of the Mission YUVA portal, examining Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) uploaded by candidates and Small Business Development Units. He asked stakeholder departments to ensure systematic monitoring of entrepreneurial ventures.

Key strategic directions emerged from the meeting, including the establishment of direct contact mechanisms with potential entrepreneurs identified during baseline surveys, weekly convening of Yuva Doot meetings at Business Help Desk (BHD) levels. The administration has also mandated the creation of dedicated WhatsApp groups at the said level for enhanced monitoring and coordination, while prioritizing the preparation of DPRs by NABARD, J&K Bank, and Employment Department officials.

The DC exhorted the officers involved in Mission YUVA’s execution to work in close synergy, emphasizing that the success of this entrepreneurial initiative largely depends on coordinated efforts across all departments and institutions.  The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Champa Devi Thakur besides other concerned.
