In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

RAMBAN: The Labour Department conducted inspections in the market areas of Banihal to ensure the proper implementation of various labour laws. Under the supervision of the Assistant Labour Commissioner, Ramban, Labour Inspector  Roop Sharma visited around 30 shops and establishments, including hotels, restaurants, and workshops, under the Shops and Establishment Act.

During the inspections, two business operators were found running unregistered shops. Notices were issued to these violators, directing them to register their shops under the Act to safeguard workers' rights.

The Labour Inspector also checked wage payment practices, ensuring timely and minimum wages were being provided. Establishment owners were asked to present wage and attendance registers and were educated about maintaining mandatory records as per labour laws.

Meanwhile, inspections were conducted under the Child Labour Act, with no violations found regarding the employment of children below 14 years of age. Establishment owners were reminded not to employ children under 14 or adolescents under 18 in hazardous workplaces.
