POONCH: Under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) project – the Alternate Agriculture System, the Agriculture Department Poonch today organized a Kisan Ghostie here at the Community Hall, Sathra.

The officials  sensitized farmers about key agriculture schemes and initiatives, including HADP, CSS, CAPEX, JKCIP, Kisan Credit Card (KCC), PM-KISAN, PMFBY and other departmental schemes, promoting the adoption of modern, sustainable and cost-effective farming practices.

The programme was chaired by Chief Agriculture Officer Jograj Singh Slathia, in the presence of the District Agriculture Officer (Extension), Subject Matter Specialists (DL), Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer and others.

The officials urged farmers to complete PM KISAN e-KYC for FY 2026-27 well before the release of the next installment. The farmers were further urged to actively participate in the Agri Stack registration camps being organized by the revenue department across the district.

The Chief Agriculture Officer emphasized the importance of maintaining soil health for achieving sustainable agricultural productivity. He urged farmers to get their soil tested before sowing season at the District Soil Testing Laboratory, where the facility is provided free of cost. He advised farmers to avoid excessive and indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and encouraged them to adopt Natural Farming practices, including the use of organic compost and green manure, to restore soil health and revive beneficial microorganisms.

Representatives from allied departments, including the Head Scientist, KVK, apprised the farmers about various schemes, technologies and interventions available through their respective departments.
