JAMMU: Congress must stop politicizing Constitutional Institutions, or put evidence before people, said Bharat Bhushan, while strongly criticizing the Congress leadership over its continuing allegations concerning the Election Commission of India and the electoral process.
Former DDC Chairperson and Vice-President, J&K BJP Bharat Bhushan, accompanied by Former DDC Vice-Chairperson Suraj Singh and Former DDC member and J&K BJP SC Morcha President Dharminder Kumar, in the presence of J&K BJP Media Incharge Dr. Pardeep Mahotra, addressed a press conference at party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
Bharat Bhushan said the latest controversy surrounding the Election Commission reflects what he described as a recurring pattern in Congress politics—raising a fresh allegation whenever an earlier political narrative loses public traction. He said Rahul Gandhi and the Congress leadership have repeatedly questioned institutions responsible for conducting elections, particularly when electoral outcomes do not match their expectations.
He said the Election Commission has publicly maintained that decisions concerning the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls were taken collectively by the Commission. The ECI's present composition includes Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi.
Bharat Bhushan said Congress has a responsibility to place verifiable evidence before the public rather than allowing political allegations to become substitutes for facts. He said concerns regarding electoral rolls can legitimately be raised through established constitutional and legal mechanisms, but attempts to portray constitutional institutions as politically controlled without establishing such claims can affect public confidence in those institutions.
He further said the Congress leadership should explain why its political discourse repeatedly shifts from one allegation to another. Referring to Rahul Gandhi's recent statements concerning voter rolls and SIR, he said the public is entitled to ask whether these allegations are being supported by complete evidence and whether the Congress will accept institutional clarifications when they contradict its narrative.
He said the Election Commission remains a constitutionally established institution entrusted with administering elections, and political parties should engage with it through facts, evidence and lawful procedures.
Suraj Singh said Congress was deliberately casting suspicion on constitutional institutions without producing credible evidence, and such politics only undermines public trust in the electoral process.
Dharminder Kumar said Congress should stop making serious allegations against the Election Commission for political convenience and instead place verifiable facts before the people.
Earlier, while giving an overview of the issue, Dr. Pardeep Mahotra said BJP will continue to put facts before the media and public, while exposing attempts to create unwarranted doubts about democratic and constitutional institutions.
