In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

POONCH: National Science Day was celebrated with remarkable enthusiasm across Aspirational Block Mankote under the aegis of Sampoornata Abhiyaan 2.0. The celebrations were held under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Ashok Kumar Sharma, whose consistent focus on convergence, accountability and outcome-based governance has significantly strengthened implementation of developmental initiatives in the district.

To mark the day, the Health, Education and ICDS Departments organized coordinated programmes across Anganwadi Centres, High Schools and at Higher Secondary School Mankote, ensuring that the spirit of scientific thinking reaches every section of the community.

At the grassroots level, live demonstrations were conducted on safe drinking water practices, personal hygiene and scientific methods of child growth monitoring. Beneficiaries were sensitized about household-level water safety measures and the seven scientifically recommended steps of hand washing. Nutrition teams demonstrated accurate height and weight measurement techniques to ensure precision in growth tracking and effective nutritional monitoring of children.

A vibrant Quiz Competition was held at Higher Secondary School Mankote further energizing the celebrations. Students showcased their knowledge, analytical skills and scientific temperament. The event encouraged innovation, curiosity and rational thinking among young learners.

The programme highlighted the strong convergence model envisioned by the Deputy Commissioner, ensuring seamless coordination among the departments for achieving saturation of key indicators under Sampoornata Abhiyaan 2.0. His emphasis on scientific awareness, preventive healthcare and data-driven monitoring continues to guide Aspirational Block Mankote towards measurable and sustainable development.
