KATHUA: The Kathua Forest Division has intensified field patrolling and vigilance measures to curb the illegal felling, movement and transportation of forest produce across the Division.
During the past two weeks, the field staff, maintaining heightened alertness and continuous monitoring, intercepted and seized eight vehicles involved in the illegal transportation of forest produce. Necessary action has been initiated against the violators under the relevant provisions of applicable forest laws and rules.
The enforcement efforts have been further strengthened through close coordination among the Forest Department, District Police and Forest Protection Force (FPF). Joint vigilance, information sharing and coordinated field checking have enhanced the effectiveness of enforcement measures, particularly along vulnerable routes and forest-sensitive areas.
The Forest Department has reiterated that strict action will be taken against persons found involved in illegal felling, transportation or movement of forest produce. Field formations have been directed to maintain heightened vigilance and undertake regular patrolling and checking to prevent forest offences.
The Department has also appealed to the general public to extend cooperation to the enforcement agencies and share information regarding illegal felling or transportation of forest produce with the concerned Forest Department officials.
