PULWAMA: Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining activities, Police Station Litter carried out a series of operations along Rambiara Nallah, resulting in the seizure of five tractors involved in unlawful extraction and transportation of minerals.

During one such operation, a police party on routine patrolling noticed a tractor loaded with Bajri coming from Rambiara Nallah. The driver was signalled to stop the vehicle; however, instead of complying with the lawful directions of the police, he accelerated and attempted to flee from the spot. In the process, he obstructed the police party from performing their lawful duties. Acting tactfully and with due caution, the police party intercepted and apprehended the vehicle along with its driver.

Subsequently, during further patrolling and checking along Rambiara Nallah, the police party detected four more tractors involved in illegal mining activities. The seized vehicles include one tractor bearing Chassis No. 1VY5305DLLA003979 and three tractors bearing Registration Nos. JK03H-1975, JK22B-8571 and JK03N-2523. A total of five tractors involved in illegal mining and transportation of minerals were seized during the operations.

In this connection, Case FIR No. 83/2026 under Sections 303(3), 132 and 221 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act (PDPP Act), and Case FIR No. 85/2026 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Litter. Further investigation into both cases is underway.

Police remains committed to taking stringent action against illegal mining and safeguarding public resources. The general public is urged to cooperate with the police and report any such unlawful activities in their areas.
