• DC, SSP empowers Swachhta Pakhwara

KISHTWAR: The second day of the Swachhta Pakhwara (Cleanliness Fortnight) under the "Suchita Sangram" initiative witnessed a series of activities across educational institutions and government offices in all 13 blocks of district Kishtwar. Senior district and police administration officers, heads of government institutions and offices, staff, sanitation workers, and prominent social figures participated enthusiastically in the day's events.

In a significant moment, Deputy Commisioner Kishtwar Dr. Devansh Yadav  along with SSP Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom, ACD Kishtwar Phulail Singh, DFO Kishtwar, and BDO Kishtwar, visited Shilaphalkam at Middle School Nagni, Panchayat Hidyal. During their visit, they paid floral tributes to the martyrs of the panchayat and participated in the Forest Department's ongoing campaign 'Ek Ped Shaheedon Ke Naam' by planting a tree. They also honored the families of the martyrs.

Various dedicated activities were carried out in line with the schedule through the collaborative efforts of the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Department of Education, Forest Department, Social Welfare Department, and Municipal Council authorities.

These activities included a sanitation drive, cleanliness drive, collection and segregation of plastic waste, kitchen waste, biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste, and domestic waste, in collaboration with dedicated sanitation workers in every panchayat across the district. The collected plastic waste was handed over to the sanitation workers of the RDD for recycling.

A key highlight of the day was a class-wise quiz competition on cleanliness. Designed to educate and engage students on the importance of hygiene, the quiz tested their knowledge and encouraged the adoption of cleanliness practices in their daily lives. The day also saw various activities such as Swachhata rallies, awareness campaigns, speeches, and the Swachhata pledge, involving active participation from teachers, students, staff, and field functionaries of the aforementioned departments, along with PRIs, social personalities, and NGOs.

Similarly, under initiative "Suchita Sangram" - Ek Ped Shaheedon Ke Naam, plantation drives in schools were organized through the collaborative efforts of the Department of Youth Services & Sports Kishtwar, Education Department, and Forest Department, with massive participation of students and locals.
