HANDWARA: In a decisive action against illegal mining and transportation of minerals, Police in Handwara conducted night raids at Waskora (Talri Nala) within the jurisdiction of Police Station Handwara and detained five persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
During the operation, four tippers bearing registration numbers JK02AE-6725, JK01L-7134, JK04A-7576 and JK02AC-7507 and one tractor bearing Engine No. 737398, loaded with illegal mined material were seized. Action has been initiated against the involved persons/vehicles under the relevant provisions of the MMDR Act.
Police reiterated that strict action will continue against illegal mining and transportation of mined minerals in the Police District, in coordination with the concerned departments.
