NEW DELHI: Jammu & Kashmir BJP President and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Sat Sharma CA, while participating in the discussion on the Union Budget in the Rajya Sabha, strongly lauded the Budget, describing it as visionary, reform-oriented, and firmly rooted in the long-term goal of building a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Sat Sharma noted that this Budget holds historic significance as it is the first Budget presented from Kartavya Bhawan and the ninth Budget of Finance Minister, reflecting continuity, stability, and disciplined governance. He said that a good Budget is not one that merely pleases but one that delivers results, and this Budget does exactly that by strengthening the economy, boosting the share market, and providing substantial relief to the middle class through income tax reforms.

He emphasized that the Budget is guided by three core principles—accelerating economic growth, sustaining development momentum, and fulfilling the aspirations of the people. It focuses on self-reliance, technological advancement, fiscal discipline, public investment, job creation, agricultural growth, and modern technologies including Artificial Intelligence, with a special thrust on youth-led development.

Calling it a “Reform Express”, Sat Sharma said the Budget ensures that every section of society and every region of the country gets equal opportunity, driven by strong fundamentals rather than short-term political considerations. He added that the government’s commitment to working consistently for the next five years will ensure that India firmly stands among the front-ranking developed nations by 2047, regardless of changing political scenarios.

Highlighting India’s historical and economic journey, Sat Sharma recalled that India once accounted for nearly 30% of global GDP, which declined due to centuries of foreign invasions. He stated that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has risen from the 11th largest economy to the 4th largest economy in the world, reflecting consistent performance and determined governance.

Referring to Jammu & Kashmir, Sat Sharma recalled the painful chapters of history, including the events of 13 July 1931, when there was a mutiny against the Maharaja of Jammu &U Kashmir, the Maharaja who practiced democracy, with Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas in the whole state. He said that due to political ambitions of few families, J&K had to face decades of separatism and terrorism, and the suppression of democratic aspirations where people were even targeted for holding the Tiranga. He said that even after 26 October 1947, the nationalist people of J&K faced bullets for expressing nationalism, but today the situation has transformed.

“Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, Jammu & Kashmir has witnessed a historic change, no stone-pelting, no shutdowns, but laptops in the school bags of our children,” he said, expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister for restoring peace, development, and dignity in the region.

Sat Sharma informed the House that the total Budget allocation for Jammu & Kashmir for 2026–27 is Rs 43,290 crore, reflecting an increase of nearly Rs 2,000 crore, which underscores the Centre’s unwavering commitment to the region’s development.

Sat Sharma appealed to all to walk together with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the path of prosperity, unity, and development, and contribute collectively towards realizing the dream of a strong, self-reliant, and Viksit Bharat.
