JAMMU: Under the visionary leadership of Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, students of the IIM Jammu visited Balgran, a charitable home for destitute children on 30th Sept 2025 at Jammu. A group of 150 students from IPM 05 Batch of IIM Jammu, along with Prof. Shyam Narayan Lal, Chairperson, Anandam, and Brigadier Neeraj Soni (Retd.), Co-Chairperson, Anandam, IIM Jammu, along with staff of the Student Affairs Office participated in the visit.

The visit, coordinated jointly by Anandam: The Centre for Happiness, IIM Jammu and the Student Affairs Office, IIM Jammu, aimed to foster social awareness, empathy, and community involvement among students. During the visit, students and faculty engaged with the children through informal conversations, storytelling sessions, and recreational activities. Laughter and excitement filled the air as the children enthusiastically participated in games and activities, while students distributed sweets and shared moments of joy with their young friends.

Prof. Shyam Narayan Lal, Chairperson, Media and Publication Division and Anandam, IIM Jammu observed that such interactions plant seeds of compassion in students and reveal the transformative power of small acts of kindness. He added that these moments create memories that stay with students for a lifetime, inspiring them to lead with empathy and humanity in every sphere of life.

Brigadier Neeraj Soni, Co-Chairperson, Anandam, IIM Jammu reflected that bringing happiness to these children strengthens the bonds of community and awakens a deeper sense of social responsibility. He further noted that experiences like these remind everyone that true leadership is measured not just by achievements, but by the ability to touch lives and uplift those in need.

The visit not only brought smiles to the children of Balgran but also instilled a lasting sense of empathy, kindness, and social responsibility among the students of IIM Jammu, reflecting the institute’s commitment to holistic development, human values, and community engagement.
