HANDWARA: An awareness program on drug abuse and its prevention was organized today at Panchayat Ghar Qalamabad under the banner of Nasha Mukt Abhiyan 2024â2025. The initiative was aimed at sensitizing the public, especially the youth, about the harmful effects of drug addiction and promoting collective community action against this growing menace.
The event was attended by police officials, members of civil society, religious leaders (Molvis), and enthusiastic youth from the area. The program was graced by SHO Police Station Qalamabad, Insp. Mohd Ashraf, who emphasized the importance of community policing and collective responsibility in addressing drug-related issues.
A medical team from Qalamabad, headed by Dr. Sheikh Ayub, also participated in the event. Dr. Ayub highlighted the severe physical and mental health implications of drug use and urged the youth to lead a healthy and productive life. The medical team also offered guidance and support to those in need. Such awareness programs are a step forward in building a safe, healthy, and drug-free society through cooperation between law enforcement agencies, healthcare professionals, and the community at large.
