JAMMU: BJP senior leader and Prabhari, District Doda, Pawan Sharma, strongly criticized National Conference MP, Syed Rahula Mehdi, for his remarks on Article 370 made during a programme organized by NSUI at JNU, Delhi. Sharma asserted that Mehdi’s statement have misled students and the public.
Sharma underscored that Article 370 is "done and dusted" and asserted that no power on earth can bring it back, observing that the article was always a temporary provision. He alleged that the Congress deliberately prolonged the temporary status of Article 370 to undermine the unitary character of the country and appease a segment of society.
Pawan Sharma asserted that Article 370 was inherently cruel and discriminatory, violating the fundamental principles of the Indian Constitution. Over the years, it systematically suppressed and infringed upon the human and natural rights of some communities in Jammu and Kashmir. He alleged that the National Conference and the Congress exploited and misappropriated the region's resources under the guise of this article, effectively providing sustenance to terrorists and separatists.
By abrogating Article 370, Sharma stated that the Modi government has effectively broken the backbone of terrorists and their local as well as nationwide handlers. He warned the National Conference leadership to desist from using cheap tactics and urged them to acknowledge reality at the earliest. Otherwise, he cautioned, a time may come when the National Conference itself will become history—just as outdated as Article 370.
Pawan Sharma further stated that mere rhetoric and daily theatrics will not be enough to keep the National Conference in power. To remain relevant, they must focus on fulfilling their election promises. He stressed that the public is wise enough to recognize such political tactics and is closely watching and evaluating the government's progress.
He stressed that the days of deceiving people with emotional narratives are gone now, and that the public now requires real development, transparency, and effective governance, which will shape the future of politics in Jammu and Kashmir.
