JAMMU: The BJP Mahila Morcha of Jammu and Kashmir staged a forceful protest today outside the BJP office at Trikuta Nagar, condemning the recent resolution passed by the assembly, which seeks to restore the erstwhile state’s special status. The protest not only opposed this resolution but also expressed anger over recent incidents in Kishtwar and the mistreatment faced by BJP elected MLA's. The protest underscored the Mahila Morcha's firm stance against the National Conference (NC)-led government’s actions.

Leading the protest, Priya Sethi, former Minister and in-charge of the BJP office in Jammu, criticized the NC-led government, stating, “This resolution is a betrayal of the nation. The National Conference and its allies know that Article 370 cannot be reinstated under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Their actions are an attempt to create division and undermine the peace that has been achieved.”

BJP Vice President and Mahila Morcha Prabhari Anuradha Charak further remarked, “The National Conference is pushing an agenda against the interests of Jammu and Kashmir. Passing this resolution goes against the will of the people and threatens the unity and progress made post-Article 370 abrogation. The BJP Mahila Morcha stands firmly against any attempt to revive this outdated provision."

Neha Mahajan, General Secretary of the BJP Mahila Morcha, emphasized, "Article 370 was the foundation of separatism and terrorism in our region. It was rightly abolished by the central government, and any effort to bring it back disrupts the development of Jammu and Kashmir. The National Conference seems to be extending a red carpet to terror sympathizers, as it has done in the past. The Mahila Morcha is committed to defending the unity and integrity of our nation."

Reema Padha, another General Secretary of the Mahila Morcha, reiterated the Morcha’s position, saying, "The Mahila Morcha is determined to maintain peace and harmony in Jammu and Kashmir. This resolution is purely a political maneuver by the National Conference to reverse the progress made since 2019. We will stand against any divisive agendas that threaten the stability of our state."

The protest saw significant participation, including Prerna Nanda, State Secretary and Media Prabhari of the Mahila Morcha; Monika Khosla; Bipna Manhas, Councillors Sunita Gupta, Gurmeet Randhawa, Rekha Manhas, Divya Jain, District President of Jammu South Mahila Morcha, Savita Anand, District President of Jammu Mahila Morcha; and numerous other members from the Mahila Morcha at the state, district, and mandal levels.

In a powerful demonstration of their disapproval, the BJP Mahila Morcha burnt effigies of NC and Congress leaders, specifically featuring images of Omar Abdullah and Surinder Chaudhary, to condemn their "anti-national agendas." Chanting slogans against the National Conference and Congress, the BJP Mahila Morcha reinforced its commitment to counter any moves aimed at restoring Article 370. The Morcha urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to remain vigilant against such divisive political tactics.
