RAJOURI: The District Election Officer Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, today chaired a comprehensive meeting at the Conference Hall of Government Degree College (GDC), Rajouri, to review election preparedness which was attended by Returning Officers (ROs), Nodal Officers, Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates along with various other officials involved in the conduct of the upcoming Assembly Elections 2024.
During the meeting, a detailed question and answer session was held to address minor queries raised by officials regarding poll day procedures. One of the highlights of the meeting was an interaction with Engineers from the Election Commission of India (ECI), who provided insights into the process for the replacement of Ballot Units (BUs) and Control Units (CUs) of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). This technical session was crucial for ensuring a seamless voting process on the day of the election.
The DEO gave directives to Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates to thoroughly check the stickers on all vehicles before their departure to polling stations. These stickers are crucial for identifying the authorized election vehicles and ensuring their smooth movement during the election process.
DEO instructed the officials to ensure the proper marring of polling parties before they are dispatched to their respective polling stations. He stressed that accurate and timely sharing of data related to law and order, the status of EVMs and voter turnout should be a top priority for all election officials. Monitoring the electoral lists to prevent discrepancies was also highlighted as an important task during the polling process.
In addition, the DEO directed all officials to thoroughly review the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines and ensure they are followed in letter and spirit on poll day. He emphasized that strict adherence to these guidelines is essential for maintaining the credibility and transparency of the election process.
The DEO urged all officials to maintain the highest level of coordination and preparedness to ensure the smooth conduct of the Assembly Elections. He also directed that any issues arising on the poll day must be promptly addressed to uphold the integrity of the election process.
SSP Rajouri, Randeep Kumar briefed the meeting on the security arrangements for the elections. He provided detailed instructions on adhering to the ear-marked routes for the dispatch of polling parties, especially for those heading to critical polling stations and far-flung areas.
