JAMMU: In commemoration of Gandhi Jayanti, Government College of Education Jammu on Friday hosted a district-level Slogan Writing and Reel Making Competition.
The event was part of a larger initiative led by the Higher Education Department, under the visionary guidance of Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary Higher Education, to promote creative engagement and awareness of Gandhian principles among students. Prof.(Dr.) Jyoti Parihar, Principal of the College was the Chief Guest. She delivered an inspiring speech and highlighted the crucial role of youth in carrying forward the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi through innovation and social responsibility. She also commended the event’s organizers and participants for their exceptional work and dedication.
The event, coordinated by Dr. Rajinder Kaur, Dr. Shubhra Jamwal, Prof. Sarita Dogra, Prof. Deepali and Prof. Ramandeep Karalia, was judged by the esteemed faculty members of higher education Dr. Bindu Sharma (GDC Hiranagar), Dr. Payali Arora (GDC Udhampur), Dr Shaveta Sharma (GDC Udhampur) and Professor Sanjeet Singh (GDC Udhampur).
Winners of essay writing competition were Chanpreet Kour from GCW Parade, Harshpreet Singh from GDC RS PURA, Aayushvi Sharma from GCOE bagging 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. The Slogan Writing Competition winners were Raksha Gurung from GCOE, Syona Gupta from GCW Gandhinagar and Sonia Thakur from GDC Nagrota bagging 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively
The winners will now move on to represent the district at the division level. This competition exemplifies the Higher Education Department's commitment to fostering a sense of creativity and civic duty in students, encouraging them to internalize the values of Mahatma Gandhi. Prof Satish Sharma, Prof. Sunanda Rani, Dr. Sushma Bala, Dr. Ambica were also present on the occasion.
