SRINAGAR: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested a drug peddler in Ganderbal and recovered contraband substance.
Police Station Gund received information through reliable sources that one person namely Shameem Ahmad Khatana son of Late Ab Gani Khatana resident of Baktoori Mohalla, Gund has concealed contraband substance at his residential house. Acting swiftly, a special police team of Police Station Gund along with Executive Magistrate 1st Class and independent witnesses raided the residential house of the accused. During search, 08Kgs of bhang patri was recovered, which was seized and the accused was arrested on the spot. Further investigation of the case is under process.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 53/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Gund and further investigation has been initiated. We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. The general public is requested to cooperate with Police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
