SRINAGAR: Director General of Police, J&K, Shri Nalin Prabhat, IPS, today visited the Nunwan Base Camp at Pahalgam to review the arrangements made for the smooth, safe, and hassle-free conduct of the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
During the visit, the DGP conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Base Camp and took stock of the facilities and arrangements made for the yatris. He reviewed the security arrangements, access control measures, deployment of police personnel, traffic regulation, emergency response preparedness, and other logistical arrangements to ensure the safety, security, and convenience of the pilgrims.
The DGP also interacted with police personnel deployed at the Base Camp and appreciated their dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment towards ensuring the successful conduct of the Yatra. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the highest standards of vigilance while adopting a pilgrim-friendly approach in the discharge of their duties.
Later, Shri Nalin Prabhat chaired a security review meeting at the Nunwan Base Camp, attended by senior police officers. The meeting focused on the prevailing security scenario, operational preparedness, deployment strategy, area domination, intelligence coordination, contingency planning, and measures to strengthen the overall security grid along the Yatra route.
The DGP directed the officers to maintain round-the-clock alertness, ensure effective supervision at all levels, and uphold close coordination among field formations for prompt response to any contingency. He stressed that every possible measure should be taken to provide a safe, secure, and seamless pilgrimage experience for the yatris.
DGP J&K VISITS NUNWAN FRISKING POINT: Director General of Police, Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Nalin Prabhat-IPS, today visited the Nunwan Frisking Point at Pahalgam to review the security and facilitation arrangements put in place for the smooth and safe conduct of the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
During the visit, the DGP conducted a comprehensive inspection of the frisking point and took stock of the security measures, access control mechanisms, deployment of personnel, and the overall arrangements made for the convenience and safety of the pilgrims. He interacted with officers and personnel deployed at the site and emphasized the importance of maintaining the highest standards of vigilance, professionalism, and courteous public service.
The DGP directed the officers to ensure thorough yet pilgrim-friendly security checks while maintaining seamless movement of yatris. He stressed the need for close coordination among all security agencies and civil administration to ensure a secure, peaceful, and hassle-free pilgrimage.
Shri Nalin Prabhat appreciated the dedication and commitment of the police personnel and other security forces deployed on Yatra duty. FIRST BATCH OF SHRI AMARNATH JI YATRA PILGRIMS WARMLY WELCOMED AT NAYUG TUNNEL, QAZIGUND: The first batch of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY-2026) pilgrims received a warm and heartily welcome at the Nayug Tunnel Qazigund, Kulgam.
The reception was led by DIG SKR Anantnag Shri Javed Iqbal Mattoo-IPS, SSP Kulgam Shri Anayat Ali Chowdhary-IPS, along with other senior officers of district administration, Kulgam police and CAPF. The pilgrims expressed happiness and gratitude for the warm hospitality.
A robust security grid has been established with the deployment of Police, Army, CRPF, and other security agencies across the Yatra route to ensure a safe, secure, and smooth conduct of SANJY-2026.

On the occasion, Shri Satish Sharma Hon'ble Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Information Technology, Youth Services & Sports, Science & Technology, and ARI & Trainings, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, DIG Armed Kashmir Shri Maqsood Ul Zaman, DC Ganderbal Shri Jatin Kishore-IAS & SSP Ganderbal Shri Sudhanshu Dhama-IPS personally welcomed the yatris, interacted with them, and conveyed their best wishes for a safe, peaceful, and spiritually enriching pilgrimage.
They assured the devotees that elaborate security, traffic management, and public facilitation arrangements have been put in place by Ganderbal Police in close coordination with the Civil Administration, CAPFs, Health Department, and other stakeholder agencies. During interaction, the officers urged the yatris to follow the advisories issued by the authorities & cooperate with security personnel.
