GANDERBAL: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal organized a legal awareness programme at Central Jail Srinagar on the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) relating to Premature Release, Parole and Furlough to educate inmates about the legal provisions, eligibility criteria and procedure governing these reformative measures.

The programme was conducted under the supervision of Abdul Nasir, Chairman DLSA Ganderbal, and under the guidance of Sheikh Babar Hussain, Secretary, DLSA Ganderbal in accordance with the Calendar of Activities issued by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority (J&K LSA).

Sajid Irfan, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel, and Romani Syed, Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel, Ganderbal, served as the Resource Persons. They explained the legal framework governing premature release, parole and furlough, their objectives, eligibility conditions, procedural requirements and the distinction between these provisions. The inmates were also informed about the role of legal aid institutions in assisting eligible prisoners.

The programme concluded with an interactive session where inmate's queries were addressed, reaffirming DLSA Ganderbal's commitment to promoting legal awareness and ensuring access to justice for all.
