GANDERBAL: Under the theme “Blood Donation: A Contribution to the Nation” (Raktdaan – Desh Ke Naam), Health Centre and Dean Students’ Welfare (DSW), Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), in collaboration with the Blood Bank department of the Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar, organised a one-day blood donation camp at Tulmulla Campus
The camp was inaugurated by Registrar, Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir, in the presence of Dr. Rafia, In-charge of the camp from GMC, Dean Students’ Welfare, Dr. Jehir-ul-Islam, Medical Officers Dr. Sheeba Nazir and Dr. Abid Ahmad, Nursing Officer, Javeed Rather; Medical Attendant Mr. Javid Ali and other functionaries.
The initiative received an overwhelming response from the University community, with students, teaching and administrative staff coming forward to donate blood. More than 60 pints of blood were collected during the camp.
Speaking on the occasion, Registrar Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir lauded the participation of students and staff, describing voluntary blood donation as one of the noblest expressions of human compassion and social responsibility. He said the significance of donating blood lies in the fact that it offers hope and a chance at life to someone at a moment when it matters most. He encouraged the University community to remain actively engaged in initiatives that address the needs of society and translate the values of education into meaningful social action.
