RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan today interacted with a group of students from Government Degree College (GDC, who are undergoing a 15-day Internship Programme in Journalism. The Interns are visiting various offices of the District Administration as part of their practical exposure.
The interaction took place at the office of the Deputy Commissioner and was attended by Director Tourism Jammu Vikas Gupta; Additional Deputy Commissioner Varunjeet Singh Charak; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Shokat Hayat Mattoo; Assistant Commissioner Development Sheraz Ahmed; Tehsildar Deep Kumar; DIO Natyapal Singh and other district officers.
A total of 52 students are participating in the internship programme, being conducted by GDC Ramban in collaboration with the Institute of Mass Communication and Skill Development (IMCSD), Jammu.
Interacting with the students, the Deputy Commissioner shared insights into the functioning of the District Administration and responded to their queries related to various issues concerning the youth and student community. He encouraged the students to actively pursue academic learning alongside personality development and equip themselves with the knowledge and skills required for their future careers.
As part of the programme, the students undertook an exposure visit to the District Information Centre, Ramban, where they interacted with District Information Officer Ramban, Natyapal Singh. The DIO briefed the students about the functioning of the Information Department and various aspects of journalism and media management.
He apprised them about different aspects of media houses and the process of preparing press releases, organising cultural programmes, maintaining public relations and monitoring newspapers and other media platforms. He also highlighted the role of the Department of Information and Public Relations in disseminating government policies, programmes and developmental activities to the public.
The DIO motivated the students to consider journalism as a career option and encouraged them to focus on skill development, practical learning and career building. As part of the exposure visit, the students also visited several other offices at the District Administration Complex to gain first-hand knowledge of the functioning of different government departments and understand the process of public service delivery at the district level.
