RAMBAN: District Information Officer Ramban Natyapal Singh today convened an introductory meeting with members of the media fraternity of the district to discuss issues concerning media persons and strengthen coordination between the administration and the media.
During the interaction, media persons, led by President Journalist Association Taskeen Wani along with other senior journalists, apprised the DIO of various issues and difficulties being faced by them while covering government programmes, public events and other activities on the ground.
The DIO gave a patient hearing to the issues and suggestions projected by the media representatives and assured that their genuine concerns would be taken up with the concerned authorities for appropriate consideration.
The DIO emphasised the important role of the media in strengthening transparent, accountable and responsive governance and in disseminating information to benefit public interest. The DIO also advised them to maintain close coordination, facilitate smooth media coverage of official events and work together in the larger public interest.
