SHOPIAN: In a vibrant initiative aimed at youth empowerment, community engagement and promotion of sports, J&K Police in Shopian organised and successfully concluded a Volleyball Tournament at Sports Stadium, Vishroo Keller, under the aegis of the Civic Action Programme (CAP).
The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation of four teams from adjoining areas within the jurisdiction of Police Station Keller, namely Gatipora Shamshers, Thearina Warriors, Zrakan Fearless Fighters and Keller Kashmir Warriors. The participating players displayed commendable sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork and competitive spirit throughout the tournament, creating an atmosphere of excitement and community bonding.
The tournament was inaugurated by DySP PC Keller Shri Arsalan Ahmad-JKPS, accompanied by the SHO Police Station Keller and In-Charge Police Post Berthipora. The officers interacted with the participating players and local youth, appreciated their enthusiasm and sporting spirit and encouraged them to actively participate in sports and other constructive activities.
The officers highlighted the importance of sports in promoting physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, confidence and a positive outlook among youth. The final match was played between Zrakan Fearless Fighters and Gatipora Shamshers, with Zrakan Fearless Fighters emerging victorious. The winning and runners-up teams were felicitated with suitable cash prizes and mementos and appreciated for their outstanding performance, determination and sporting spirit.
Police remains committed to promoting sports and constructive youth engagement as part of its efforts towards building a drug-free and crime-free society.
