SHOPIAN: In a vibrant initiative aimed at youth empowerment and community bonding, J&K Police in Shopian inaugurated a T10 Cricket Tournament under the aegis of the Civic Action Programme (CAP).

Teams from different areas of the district are participating in the tournament, showcasing enthusiasm, competitive spirit and sportsmanship. The inaugural match, held at Batapora Stadium, witnessed energetic participation from young players and drew considerable enthusiasm from the local community.

The tournament was inaugurated by Addl. SP Shopian Shri Rameez Rashid Bhat-JKPS and DySP Hqrs Shopian Shri Imtiyaz Ahmad-JKPS, accompanied by the SHO Police Station Shopian. The officers interacted with the participating teams and encouraged the players to uphold discipline, sportsmanship and team spirit throughout the competition.

The inaugural match was played between Alfalah Fitness Bongam and Aliyalpora Cricket Club. Alfalah Fitness Bongam won the toss and elected to bat first, marking the beginning of the tournament with an exciting contest between the two teams.

Police remains committed to promoting sports and constructive youth engagement as part of its vision to build a drug-free and crime-free society. The initiative provides young people with a meaningful platform for positive engagement, talent development and personality enhancement. The event further reflects the steadfast commitment of Police towards youth development, community welfare and strengthening police-public relations across the district.
