JAMMU: Mission Shakti, District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Jammu, Department of Social Welfare J&K, in collaboration with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital and Mission Poshan, CDPO Akhnoor organised a Free Health Check-Up Camp at Floriculture Hall, Broota Mandi, Akhnoor. The camp was organised with the objective of promoting preventive healthcare, early diagnosis and greater awareness about women’s health and well-being.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from women and community members, providing access to specialist medical consultations, health screening, blood pressure and blood sugar testing, medicines and essential health guidance free of cost.
A team of specialist doctors from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital extended their expertise during the camp, including Dr. Ankita Sharma, Assistant Professor, Internal Medicine; Dr. Malvika Sharma, Assistant Professor, Ophthalmology and Dr. Sunpreet Kour, Medical Officer, Gynaecology. The participants received medical consultations and guidance on general health, eye care and women’s reproductive health.
The camp was conducted under the supervision of CDPO Akhnoor Gurwinder Kour and District Mission Coordinator, Mission Shakti Jammu Shagun Manchanda. The CDPO appreciated the collaborative efforts behind the initiative and highlighted the importance of taking quality healthcare services closer to the community. She emphasised that timely screening, awareness and preventive healthcare can play a crucial role in improving the quality of life, particularly for women and vulnerable sections of society.
The camp marked another significant step towards the vision of “Healthy Women, Empowered Women, Stronger Families and a Healthier Society,” reaffirming Mission Shakti Jammu’s commitment to ensuring that women have greater awareness, access and opportunities to lead healthy, safe and empowered lives.
