BARAMULLA: Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Cooperative and Election Department, Javid Ahmad Dar, today witnessed the grand finale of the Legends Cricket League, Rohama, as the chief guest at Safi Sports Stadium.
The final match was played between Irfan Sports Legends, Rohama and TNC Legends, Taleemngner, with the event witnessing enthusiastic participation of players, sports enthusiasts and local youth.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister appreciated the organisers for providing a platform to promote cricket and encourage sporting talent among youth. He said games and sports have a vital role in channelising the energy of young people towards constructive activities and keeping them away from social evils.
Javid Dar called upon youth to actively participate in games and sports, saying that sporting activities promote physical fitness, mental well-being, discipline, teamwork, leadership and a healthy competitive spirit. He emphasised the need to provide more opportunities to young people at the grassroots level to identify, nurture and showcase their sporting talent.
The Minister appreciated both teams for displaying commendable sportsmanship, enthusiasm and competitive spirit throughout the league and congratulated the finalists for reaching the grand finale. He conveyed his best wishes to all the participating players for their future sporting endeavours.
Highlighting the importance of sports infrastructure in promoting sporting activities, Javid Dar said that the government is committed to strengthen the sports facilities at the grassroots level. He assured that all necessary measures would be taken for the development and upgradation of Safi Sports Stadium, so that it can provide better facilities to local sportspersons and youth.
