JAMMU: Under the guidance of Sub- Divisional Magistrate Ankush Hans, a significant milestone was achieved by the Higher Secondary School, Chowki Choura today with the conduct of selection trials for the first batch of NCC cadets here on the school campus. A total of 50 students participated in the selection process, out of whom 17 students, including 10 boys and 7 girls, were selected for the first batch of NCC cadets.
The initiative to introduce NCC at HSS Chowki Choura was undertaken in 2022, by the then SDM, Virender Gupta, JKAS, when the necessary file for starting NCC was submitted to 2nd Battalion NCC, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The process was diligently chased for nearly four years by Sunil Dutt, Lecturer in Physical Education, who continuously coordinated with the concerned authorities and followed up the matter with dedication and commitment.
The school acknowledges the valuable contribution and efforts of Retired Principal Sat Paul Jalotra, whose support and encouragement helped in pursuing the initiative for the entire Sub Division.
The school authorities congratulated all 17 selected students and appreciated the enthusiasm and participation of all 50 students who appeared for the selection trials. The school expressed hope that the selected cadets will bring laurels to the institution through their dedication, discipline and achievements.
The school further expressed its gratitude to Virender Gupta, JKAS, Retired Principal Sat Paul Jalotra, Sunil Dutt, Lecturer in Physical Education, NCC authorities and all other stakeholders whose support, guidance and cooperation made this long-awaited initiative possible
