NEW DELHI: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) today issued the consultation paper on draftamendments proposed in‘The Standards of Quality of Service of Access (Wireline and Wireless) and Broadband (Wireline and Wireless) Service Regulations, 2024’seeking comments and counter comments of stakeholders.
In August, 2024, TRAI comprehensivelyreviewed the earlier QoS framework and notified consolidated regulation ‘The Standards of Quality of Service of Access (Wireline and Wireless) and Broadband (Wireline and Wireless) Service Regulations, 2024’ on 2ndAugust 2024. The Regulations provide anupdated QoS framework for monitoring the quality of access and broadband services through technology-agnostic performance standards, strengthened reporting mechanisms, and measures to enhance transparency to the consumers. The regulation came into force on 1st October 2024.
Based on the experience gained during the implementation of the Regulations, feedback received from stakeholders, evolving technological developments and the increasing consumer expectation for reliable and high-quality digital connectivity,it is considered necessary to address the issues identified during implementation and further enhance the effectiveness of the Quality of Service framework. Accordingly, it is proposed to amend certain provisions of ‘The Standards of Quality of Service of Access (Wireline and Wireless) and Broadband (Wireline and Wireless) Service Regulations, 2024’.
