KATRA: With a view to ensuring enhanced security for seamless pilgrimage and smooth conduct of the forthcoming National event, a comprehensive review meeting was held today chaired by Shri Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board at the Spiritual Growth Centre (SGC), Katra to take stock of the preparedness and arrangements.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the arrangements for the Independence Day Celebrations, which will be organized at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sports Complex, Katra wherein, Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB will unfurl the National Flag and inspect the parade comprising contingents of the JKP, CRPF, Shrine Security, NCC and children from different schools in the region.
The meeting also reviewed the arrangements for the cultural programme to be presented during the celebrations. It was decided that the programme would be designed in keeping with the spirit of the national occasion and would also highlight socially relevant themes such as “Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan”.
The concerned quarters were also directed to ensure that proper and timely invitations are extended to prominent citizens, local representatives, stakeholders and residents of Katra so as to facilitate wider public participation in the national celebrations.
The meeting laid emphasis on strengthening security arrangements in and around the Shrine area, Katra town and the Sports Complex, besides ensuring close coordination among all stakeholders for the safety and security of pilgrims and the smooth conduct of the national event. The concerned agencies were directed to maintain heightened vigilance and undertake necessary preventive measures
The meeting also stressed regular security drills to prevent impersonation and ensure that only duly registered and authorized service providers are engaged in pilgrimage-related services. The need for enhanced area domination, surveillance and preventive security measures was also discussed.
It was also decided that additional security personnel will be deployed at identified vulnerable and strategic locations, while technology-enabled monitoring through the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) and other available surveillance systems will be utilised for real-time monitoring and prompt response to any emerging situation.
The Superintendent of Police, Katra and Commandant, CRPF apprised the meeting of the security arrangements being put in place and assured coordinated deployment of personnel and resources for maintaining a secure environment during the celebrations.
The meeting further stressed the importance of close and continuous coordination among the stakeholders for crowd regulation, traffic management, parking, emergency response, communication and prompt handling of any exigency.
The meeting was attended by SSP, Reasi; Addl. CEO, Jt. CEO, SMVDSB; SDM, Katra; Dy. CEO, Asstt. CEOs, SMVDSB; Tehsildar, Bhawan & SMVDSB; ACF, SMVDSB; SDPOs of Katra and Bhawan, besides senior officers of the Army, Police, CRPF, Railways, Fire & Emergency Services, intelligence agencies and other concerned departments.
