RAMBAN: Stepping up enforcement measures to promote road safety and ensure strict compliance with traffic regulations, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) today conducted a special enforcement drive in Subdivision Gool.

On the directions of Deputy Commissioner and under the guidance of SSP, a team led by ARTO Varun Bhasin conducted surprise enforcement drives at Permote, Hadog, Sangaldan, Gool, Deeda and Tatapani areas of Sub-division Gool in District Ramban.

During the drive, 127 vehicles were checked; of which 42 vehicles were e-challaned for various violations of the Motor Vehicles Act. The violations included overcharging, overloading, operating without valid permits, unauthorised alterations and operating without valid fitness certificates.

Vehicles found operating without the requisite documents were challaned, while some were seized as warranted under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. The total amount of the e-challans is expected to be approximately ₹72,800. In addition, 04 vehicles were seized for serious violations.

Furthermore, 07 Driving Licences (DLs) have been recommended for suspension for violations of the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. During the enforcement drive, the team also interacted with members of the public, listened to their grievances related to transport services and traffic enforcement and resolved several issues on the spot.

The public was sensitized about the importance of complying with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and adhering to road safety norms. Genuine grievances requiring further action were noted and will be taken up with the concerned authorities for appropriate resolution.
