JAMMU: In a continued effort to enhance urban green cover and elevate the aesthetic beauty of public spaces, the Department of Floriculture, Jammu in active coordination with the Rotary Club Jammu City, organized a major plantation drive at the iconic Bagh-e-Bahu garden.
As part of the drive, dozens of high-quality saplings of ornamental flowering trees and shrubs were planted across the newly constructed terrace section of the garden to add a vibrant floral dimension for visiting tourists and locals.
The event was led by Nagendra Singh Jamwal, Director, Department of Floriculture, Jammu along with Vikrant Kumar, Joint Director; Vijay Kumar, Deputy Director (Planning); Ishtiaq Ahmed, Floriculture Officer (Hqrs); Kuldip Kumar, Accounts Officer and Lalita Kumari, Assistant Floriculture Officer alongwith the dedicated field staff of the department.
Speaking on the occasion, departmental officers reaffirmed their commitment to expanding green initiatives across public parks and historical sites in Jammu highlighting the importance of community partnerships in sustainable urban landscaping.
The Rotary Club Jammu City extended key support to the initiative. The Club delegation was led by Sham Sundan, President alongwith prominent members including K.B. Magotra (JKAS Retd.), Robin S. Mehta (JKAS Retd.), Arvind Kotwal (JKAS Retd.), Sanjeev Vaid (Executive Secretary), Abha Sundan, K.K. Sharma, Mandeep Kour, Sushma Sharma, Astha Nagpal and Dr. Rohini Sharma.
The Department of Floriculture emphasized that similar collaborative drives with civil society organizations will continue in the future to preserve and beautify the region's recreational spots.
