JAMMU: On the occasion of World Physiotherapy Day, the Home for the Aged & Infirm (Vridh Ashram), Ambphalla, Jammu, hosted a meaningful Physiotherapy Awareness Programme, Medical Health Check-up Camp and Distribution of Aids & Appliances for its elderly residents, reaffirming its commitment to promoting healthy, active and dignified ageing.
The programme was organised by the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRC), Jammu, under the able guidance and direction of the Director, Dr. Rohinika Sharma. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Devedika Padha, Lecturer (Physiotherapy), along with the dedicated team of CRC Jammu.
A special physiotherapy awareness and exercise session was conducted for the residents, focusing on the importance of regular physical activity, appropriate exercises and mobility in maintaining strength, flexibility, balance and functional independence among senior citizens. The residents were sensitised on simple and safe physical activities that can support their day-to-day mobility and help them perform their activities of daily living with greater confidence and independence.
The programme was further enriched by a Medical Health Check-up Camp, organised in collaboration with Ayush Hospital, Jammu. Dr. Bharti, Medical Officer, along with her team, conducted health assessments of the residents and provided appropriate medical advice and guidance for their continued well-being.
A significant highlight of the programme was the distribution of aids and appliances to needy beneficiaries, supporting their mobility, functional needs and independence. Around 50 beneficiaries benefited from the various activities conducted during the programme.
On behalf of the Home for the Aged & Infirm (Vridh Ashram), Ambphalla, Dr. Dinesh Gupta, Secretary, along with Managing Committee Members Sr. Rajinder Singh and Sh. Sat Pal Sharma, expressed their sincere appreciation to the CRC Jammu and Ayush Hospital teams for their valuable support and for bringing specialised healthcare, physiotherapy awareness and rehabilitation support closer to the elderly residents.
Speaking on the occasion, the representatives of the Vridh Ashram appreciated the initiative as a thoughtful and compassionate effort towards healthy ageing, preventive healthcare and preservation of dignity and independence among senior citizens. They emphasised that physiotherapy is not merely about treatment, but also about enabling older persons to remain active, confident and functionally independent in their everyday lives.
The observance of World Physiotherapy Day at the Vridh Ashram beautifully reflected the shared commitment of all participating organisations towards care, compassion, rehabilitation and holistic well-being of the elderly.
The Home for the Aged & Infirm expressed its gratitude to CRC Jammu, Dr. Rohinika Sharma, Dr. Devedika Padha, Dr. Bharti and the respective teams for making the occasion purposeful, beneficial and memorable for the residents.
