JAMMU: Reinforcing its commitment to executive education and capacity building for the banking and financial services sector, the Indian Institute of Management Jammu commenced a three-day Executive Development Program (EDP) for Scale IV Executives of Canara Bank at its state-of-the-art Jagti Campus. The programmeis being conducted from 18–20 June 2026, has brought together 40 banking professionals from across India for an intensive learning experience focused on emerging trends, leadership, digital transformation, governance, and managerial effectiveness.
"The inaugural session was presided over by Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Faculty and Research, IIM Jammu. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Prof. Prashant Mishra, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, IIM Jammu, and Prof. Pranab Ranjan Das, Program Director. The programme is also being led by Dr. Sumit Maheshwari, Program Director.
In his address, Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Faculty and Research, welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of industry-academia collaboration in shaping future-ready leaders. He expressed his delight in hosting senior banking executives and highlighted that management education becomes truly impactful when industry actively engages with academic institutions. Encouraging participants to approach every session with a clear learning objective, he urged them to focus on key takeaways and leverage the opportunity to learn from the distinguished faculty and their peers. He expressed hope that the training programme, would provide the participants with insightful learnings and key takeaways that they could apply in their professional journey.
Prof. Prashant Mishra, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancyprovided an overview of the Institute’s Executive Education initiatives, highlighting their role in bridging academia and industry through knowledge exchange and experiential learning. He highlighted that Executive Education and Consultancy at the Institute has organized various executive education and capacity-building programmes for Government organizations, State Government, banking institutions, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and corporate organizations, reflecting the Institute's strong commitment to industry engagement and professional development. Encouraging participants to embrace continuous learning, he emphasized that the first step towards learning is to unlearn, while underscoring the value of peer learning and mutual knowledge sharing between industry professionals and academia.
Delivering the welcome address, Prof. Pranab Ranjan Das, Program Director, congratulated the participants on their professional achievements and welcomed them to IIM Jammu. He informed that the training programme had been meticulously curated in consultation with the HRD Department of Canara Bank to address contemporary challenges and opportunities in the banking sector. Providing an overview of the programme structure and learning outcomes, he encouraged participants to actively engage in discussions and classroom activities to maximize the benefits of the training programme. He also wished them a productive learning experience and a pleasant stay on campus.
The programme has been designed to equip executives with contemporary insights and practical skills required to navigate the evolving banking landscape through sessions delivered by distinguished IIM Jammu faculty members and domain experts. The inaugural day featured sessions on Emerging Trends in Banking & Financial Services, Customer Relationship Management & Service Excellence, Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023, and Decision Making, Accountability & Organizational Ownership. The programme further covers key themes such as Artificial Intelligence and GenAI in Banking, Data Analytics, Operational Risk Management, Cyber Security, Ethics and Responsible Banking, Regulatory Compliance, Communication Skills, and Leadership Development, aimed at enhancing strategic thinking, managerial effectiveness, and responsible leadership.
During the inaugural session, participants introduced themselves and shared their professional backgrounds, creating a vibrant platform for cross-learning and exchange of experiences among banking professionals from diverse regions of the country. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shri Pardeep Saini, Program Officer, Business Development, Executive Education and Consultancy, IIM Jammu, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, officials, participants, and organizing team for their support in making the programme a success. This was followed by the National Song and National Anthem. The Executive Development Program reflects IIM Jammu’s continued commitment to partnering with leading organizations and public institutions to develop leadership capabilities, strengthen professional competencies, and contribute to the advancement of India’s banking and financial ecosystem. The training program is being executed and coordinated IIM Jammu Executive Education and Consultancy.
