JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu concluded the five-day on-campus phase III of the Mid-Career Leadership Development Program (LDP) for Young Managers (Batch-II) designed for executives of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) on 12th June 2026. The valedictory ceremony was held at the Vedanta MDP Centre, IIM Jammu, marking the completion of an intensive learning journey by 35 high-potential young managers representing diverse functional domains across SAIL.

The valedictory ceremony was presided over by Dr. Atanu Mukherjee, General Manager (I/c) (HR & L &D), SAIL(Online mode)and Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean, Faculty and Research. The valedictory ceremony graced by Programme Directors, Prof. P. P. Maheshwari, Programme Director, and Dr. Malaya Ranjan Mohapatra on Online mode.

The programme, jointly conceptualized by IIM Jammu and SAIL's Management Training Institute (MTI), Ranchi, is part of a year-long leadership development initiative aimed at nurturing future-ready leaders capable of driving organizational excellence, innovation, and transformation within one of India's premier Maharatna Public Sector Enterprises.

Dr. Atanu Mukherjee, General Manager (I/c) (HR & L &D),SAIL expressed his appreciation to IIM Jammu for delivering a highly enriching and impactful learning experience. He remarked that the participants, being among the promising talent pool of SAIL, have a crucial role to play in shaping the future of the organization. He encouraged them to disseminate their learnings across teams, undertake impactful projects, and contribute towards building a culture of excellence and innovation. He further reiterated that the programme is not merely a training intervention but a transformational journey that will continue through mentoring, project work, and organizational application over the coming months.

Addressing the participants during the valedictory session, Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Faculty and Research congratulated the participants oncompletion of the programme. He appreciated their enthusiasm, active engagement, and commitment to learning throughout the week. He emphasized that leadership in the contemporary business environment demands continuous learning, adaptability, and the ability to transform knowledge into organizational impact. He encouraged the participants to carry forward the insights gained during the programme into their professional responsibilities and continue their developmental journey with the same zeal and commitment.

Dr. Malaya Ranjan Mohapatra, Programme Director, addressing on online mode reflected upon the learning outcomes achieved during the programme and commended the participants for their active involvement in classroom discussions, case analyses, simulations, and experiential learning exercises. He noted that the programme was carefully designed to blend academic rigor with practical industry relevance, enabling participants to strengthen their managerial, analytical, financial, and leadership competencies. He urged the participants to leverage the learnings in addressing real-world organizational challenges and creating tangible value for SAIL.

The participants shared their experiences and reflections, expressing appreciation for the enriching academic environment, distinguished faculty, contemporary curriculum, peer-learning opportunities, and world-class infrastructure at IIM Jammu. They highlighted the programme's effectiveness in broadening their perspectives and enhancing their leadership capabilities.

The training programme divided across phases covered a wide range of contemporary management themes, including leadership effectiveness, strategic thinking, decision-making, finance for managers, organizational behaviour, innovation, business communication, and managerial excellence. The sessions were delivered through a blend of lectures, case discussions, experiential exercises, simulations, and interactive engagements with faculty members.

The valedictory ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates and a vote of thanks, celebrating the completion of the Leadership Development training Program. The vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. P. P. Maheshwari, Programme Director, IIM Jammu.The completion of the programme further strengthens the strategic partnership between IIM Jammu and SAIL and reflects their shared commitment towards developing visionary leaders capable of navigating complex business challenges and driving sustainable organizational growth.
