JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu participated in the nationwide Yoga Session organized on 14th June 2026 by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, as part of the celebrations leading up to the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026. The event marked a historic Guinness World Record attempt, witnessing the simultaneous participation of 4,35,831 individuals in an online Yoga session across the country.

The Yoga Session at IIM Jammu was led by Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu. The Yoga Session was graced by Dr. Arun Gupta, Medical Officer, Govt Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu; Ms. Shuchi Mohan, Yoga Therapist, and Ms. Vanshika Sharma, Yoga Instructor, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, New Delhi, who actively supported and guided the participants during the Yoga session, promoting the significance of Yoga for holistic health and well-being.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu emphasized that Yoga should be embraced as a way of life rather than being confined to a single day of observance. He described Yoga as India’s timeless gift to humanity, fostering harmony between the body, mind, and spirit. Highlighting the importance of physical fitness, mental resilience, and emotional well-being, he encouraged students, faculty members, officers, and staff to integrate Yoga into their daily routines for a healthier, balanced, and more productive life. He further noted that regular Yoga practice enhances focus, reduces stress, strengthens self-discipline, and contributes significantly to overall well-being, enabling individuals to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to society. He also commended the Ministry of Ayush for bringing together lakhs of participants through the Guinness World Record Yoga Session, reinforcing the message of collective wellness and national unity.

Students, faculty members, officers, and staff enthusiastically participated in the Yoga Session conducted by Ms. Shuchi Mohan, Yoga Therapist, and Ms. Vanshika Sharma, Yoga Instructor, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, New Delhi, under the aegis of the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. Organized nationwide in association with HabuildHealthtechPvt. Ltd., the initiative sought to inspire citizens to adopt Yoga as a way of life and strengthen awareness about its role in promoting physical vitality, mental resilience, and emotional balance. The event served as a significant milestone in the nationwide countdown to International Day of Yoga 2026, reflecting India’s enduring commitment to holistic wellness.

The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge, health, and harmony, followed by participant registration. In accordance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Ayush, participants registered individually through their personal mobile devices and joined the online session through the Ministry’s designated platform.

 The enthusiastic participation of the IIM Jammu fraternity reflected the Institute’s unwavering commitment to national initiatives that promote healthy living, collective responsibility, and social consciousness. The Institute also commemorated World Blood Donor Day by organizing a Blood Donation Drive under the theme “One Drop of Humanity: Give Blood, Save Lives” at its Campus by Kartavya Club, reflecting its commitment to social responsibility and community welfare.

During the Blood Donation Drive organized at IIM Jammu on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Faculty and Research, IIM Jammu, felicitated the paramedical staff in recognition of their dedicated service and contribution to healthcare. He also motivated students, faculty members, officers, and staff to actively participate in voluntary blood donation and contribute towards saving lives.

The Blood Donation Drive was inaugurated by Prof. P. P. Maheshwari, Professor of Practice, IIM Jammu. Dr. Dhruv Gupta, Medical Officer, Sanjeevani Health Centre, IIM Jammu, was also present on the occasion and encouraged the participants to support this noble cause. The blood donation drivewitnessed enthusiastic participation from the IIM Jammu community, reflecting the Institute’s commitment to social responsibility, humanitarian values, and community welfare.

The Yoga Session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shri Vijay Anant Kamble, Administrative Officer Student Affairs, IIM Jammu on behalf of Chairperson Student Affairs, who reiterated the Institute’s commitment to the values of wellness, discipline, service, and nation-building.

By combining the transformative practice of Yoga with the life-saving spirit of voluntary blood donation, organized by the Kartavya Club, IIM Jammu in collaboration with Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, the Institute demonstrated its holistic approach towards nurturing socially responsible and compassionate citizens.

Through its active participation in the Guinness World Record Yoga initiative under the Ministry of Ayush, Govt of India and the observance of World Blood Donor Day, IIM Jammu reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a culture of health, humanity, and community service. The Institute continues to contribute meaningfully to the vision of a stronger, healthier, and more compassionate India. The programme culminated on a patriotic note with the National Song and the National Anthem. The entire event is being coordinated by Student Affair Office, IIM Jammu.
