JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu under the leadership of Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu commenced the second day of its orientation program for the fourth batch of the Integrated Program in Management (IPM) on August 23, 2024, at the Vivekananda Classroom, Jagti Campus.
The day began on a refreshing note with a session titled "Maximize Happiness and Mindfulness" led by Mr. Sahil Mehra, a renowned Yoga Guru, and coordinated by Team Anandam. This early morning session, held at the Canal Road Campus, set a positive tone, emphasizing the importance of mental and physical well-being as students embark on their journey at IIM Jammu.
Dr. Sarbjit Singh, Chairperson, International Relations, IIM Jammu, provided valuable insights into the International Student Exchange Program, stressing the importance of cross-cultural competencies. He encouraged the IPM 04 Batch to embrace global perspectives and foster international collaboration as they begin their academic journey. An in-depth session on "IT Infrastructure, Policies, and Future Plans" was conducted by Mr. Asif Khan, Mr. Avinash Assistant System Manager, IT & Systems Department, IIM Jammu. They provided an overview of the institute's IT infrastructure, outlining the policies in place to ensure the security, efficiency, and accessibility of IT systems.
Industry Stalwart Mr. Akbar Jafri, Director at Deloitte, delivered an enlightening session on the "Future Roadmap for Budding MBA Graduates," offering a strategic perspective on the evolving business landscape and highlighting the skills and competencies that future leaders must develop. This session was moderated by Dr. Praveen Kumar, faculty, IIM Jammu. The day further progressed with an insightful session on "Enabling Business with Digital Transformation," led by Mr. Tarun Kapoor, VP of Digital Transformation at Mankind Pharma. He emphasized the pivotal role of digital innovation in driving business growth and competitiveness. The session was moderated by Dr. Sarbjit Singh, faculty, IIM Jammu.
Mr. Prashant Kalra Senior Director, Delhivery conducted an insightful session on 'Understanding Logistics: The Journey from Warehouse to Delivery' which offered the IPM 04 Batch a deep dive into the logistics sector and supply chain, emphasizing the strategic significance of staying ahead of trends to ensure seamless operations in a competitive market and thereby adding to the customer delight.The session was moderated by Dr. Sundar.R, Faculty, IIM Jammu. Mr. Pradeep Chavda, Senior Director - Global HR Transformation, Sodexo, emphasized the importance of respecting and appreciating diverse behaviors by embracing and valuing individual personas. He advised not to limit oneself to a single location or way of thinking. For those beginning their journey, he highlighted the need to set clear milestones that align with their aspirations, particularly if they aim to be entrepreneurs. He stressed that starting to work on the necessary parameters is crucial, as having the right attitude toward problem-solving is essential for achieving goals. The session was moderated by Dr. Vivek Mishra, faculty, IIM Jammu.
Mr. Shailesh K. Lohiya, Librarian at IIM Jammu, led an informative session on the 'Knowledge Management Center,' introducing the IPM 04 Batch to the library's resources, including digital tools, databases, and services. He encouraged students to leverage these assets for their academic success, emphasizing the importance of utilizing these resources to enhance their research and learning experiences. His valuable insights helped the students to understand and effectively use the vast array of knowledge resources available to them at IIM Jammu.
